Fishing on the Cowlitz river offers spring Chinook salmon, and hatchery Steelhead in the winter months. Every winter the Cowlitz river is the number one producing hatchery steelhead river in the state.
Fishing from the mouth of the Cowlitz that goes into the Columbia river all the way up to the barrier dam, we chase steelhead averaging anywhere between 7 - 15 pounds, using multiple styles of fishing including side drifting bait, or pulling diver and bait combos.
Beginning in April, the Cowlitz also provides us with exceptional fishing for the worlds tastiest fish; the spring Chinook, with ample fishing to be had from April through June.
We chase these fish in my jet sled, and more times than not, we get our limits of fish, enjoy long sunny days, and good laughter for all.
Gaffney's Washington fishing guide service will help you learn how to catch the big ones on the Cowlitz River, just like these folks did!
